Arilan grinned a bit. "Yeah...it's hard work for them to win a female. Especially the golds, they're picky."

How picky would Azarith be? Whoever's dragon flew her would be weyrleader. Not a task Arilan envied.

Andol replied " Yeah I was just glad that he was able to sire that little gold firelizards clutch." Andol was realizing that he was feeling more comfortable around this boy than he usually did most people. He thought maybe that was a good sign of things to come. Iron seeming to sense what his was thinking chirped at him and Andol smiled and said to Iron "Yeah you can go my little friend just be careful." Iron then chirped back at Andol and Andol released the firelizard and Iron flew up and disappeared. Andol then smiled and said to Arlian " You know your the first person in a long time that I think I can talk to without having to have Iron clutched in my arms."

Arilan smiled. "Maybe he'll find another gold here...if he was a female, I'd be begging you for an egg, I want one." And then he blushed. "Thank you."

Setting people at ease was something he was feeling he might have a talent for.

Andol smiled at Arilan and said " Your welcome. Oh and if Iron does fly anthoer gold you will be the frist to know so maybe you can get one of the eggs." Bamre thought about what if Iron was female. He laughed at the thought and said " If Iron was female with the temperment he has now then I would feel for the males that think they would fly her."

Arilan laughed quite a bit at that. "She'd have to choose eventually, though. They always do."

No matter how ornery the female...dragons could not -not- mate, unlike humans. They were much more...instinctual than their partners.

Firelizards probably even more so.

Andol smiled and said " Yes of course she would." At that moment Iron appeared again above the two and flew down and landed on Arilans shoulders this time. Yet unlike last time it did not bother Andol that his firelizard did so. He then sighed " Just remember don't expect me to be acting like this around most other people. I have never had a good experience with people." He then thought about something and sighed and shook his head and said " If that queen even does lay eggs. I don't see my self being able to make myself get out in front of that many people at a hatching even with Iron close. I would probably just feint. It has happened many times in the past around large groups of people, but whatever it's always been my problem no one else's I'll just deal with it myself. If I can." He then said those last three words with little assurance.

Arilan considered that. "Maybe..." A pause. "Maybe what...I've heard that people who are scared of something can learn not to be if they introduce themselves to it slowly. Maybe we can train you not to be afraid of crowds?"

Andol looked at Arilan and sighed then said " Yeah maybe. I would try anything at this point because being afraid of people is getting in the way and is keeping me form doing many things. Its just always been a combination of being paranoid of people and fearing them." He knew in his mind that this was true. The dragons and firelizards actually made him feel better while people had the exact opposite effect on him. He thought Oh well. Iron then chirped his encouragement at Andol form his new perch on Arilan's shoulders.

Arilan reached up and scritched Iron gently. "Well, start with getting used to me, then one more person, then a couple more, just build it up slowly. And...here's one thing. I knew a Harper once who said the way to not be afraid of an audience was to picture them all naked."

Andol laughed at this statement and said " Yeah that would be funny looking." Yet even though being around this boy did not brother him it was because he was not paranoid of him and he felt that he could trust him more then most people. Yet he knew that if he wanted to get used to people then he had to follow Arilan's advice. He then replied to Arilan " Alright I will give it a try. It is really the only thing I can do." Iron sitting on Arilan's shoulders was enjoying the attention he was getting and was making sounds of contentment.

Arilan kept scritching the firelizard. "Yeah, although some of the older weyrfolk I wouldn't -want- to see naked."

Some of the younger ones, of course...there were some cute girls around. That white-blonde candidate, for example.

Andol laughed and said " Yeah I agree with that." Yet he thought about the flip side of that coin, but that was not somthing he cared for ethier becuase of his want to not be around people. He never thought about that kind of thing. He shrugged his shoulders and said to himself " Oh well." Iron by this time had gotten bored and flew over to land on Andol's shoulders and Andol said to the firelizard " Well you are just everywhere today." Andol then looked over and Arilan and was about to say, but thought is was just better not to. He knew he was not good at carry on coversations it was just not one of his strong points.

Arilan grinned. "I think he wants to play...it's a shame there don't seem to be any other firelizards around right now for him to play tag with."

He betted that was what Iron wanted. That or a pretty female.

Andol agreed with this he said " Problery yet he is usllay not this playful. It is odd. It would be better though if he had someone to play with." Andol then said to Iron " Is that what you want Iron is someone to play with." The firelizard chriped at Andol in agreement to Andol's question. Andol began to pet the firelizard and said " I am sure we can find you someone later."

Arilan grinned. "Watch out, he'll be hauling -you- to the next Hatching to find a permanent playmate," the boy teased. "Wonder who around here has a queen..."
