Looks: M'zil is handsome, and he is not afraid to use this to his advantage. He is tall, about 6'1, and he has a nice build--strong, but not too bulky. His facial features are angular and somewhat hawkish, but other things are enough to detract from that. Notably, the shoulder-length, straight, shiny smooth *cough* blonde hair that frames his face. Those deep blue eyes help, too.
One thing that does detract from his handsomeness is M'zil's unusual paleness. He sunburns really easily, and a beet red face just does not help to charm the ladies (or gentlemen.) During the winter, he loves his porcelain complexion, but in the summer, he parades a variety of ridiculous hats and he is always trying some new sunblock remedy.
Personality:
M'zil may seem charming, but look out. He's hardcore. He believes in the return of Thread to a point that is almost fanatic, and he often fantasizes about the "I told you so!" moment that will come when it does start falling again. He loves training with his dragon and sometimes spends several hours a day doing so. He wants to be ready!
Of course, that's not to say that M'zil is a loony or anything. In truth, he has a rather versatile personality. He is a bit of a pessimist, and complaints are often heard pouring out of his mouth, but he at the same time he knows how to have humor about it. He is very dependable, and when he is asked to do some task as part of his dragonriderly duties, he will absolutely get it done.
When it comes to interpersonal relationships, M'zil is a bit standoffish. He can be rather judgmental, and he makes snap impressions based purely on stereotype quite a lot--this applies to non-Myth folk especially. When he does make a friend, he is loyal for life, and he also holds a hard grudge if he is betrayed. As for flirting, to M'zil, it is an art. He often charms women even though he has no attraction to them, and he sometimes uses this to his advantage. With them, he is gentlemanly and chivalrous. With men, it's different: M'zil doesn't flirt, he seduces. He is somewhat afraid of long-term relationships and that is one reason he tries not to be too emotionally invested in his attractions.
History: M'zil, born Maezil, is the son of a Greenrider and Brownrider, the result of a Flight. He was raised in the creche, but his mother was very involved in his upbringing and they were always very close. He was a runty child and he was always being picked on by the bigger kids, and he became solitary and shy, often spending time with his mother and her dragonrider friends instead of with his peers. He spent hours in the library, poring over records about Thread and dragonriding.
Everything changed when he became a teenager. Suddenly, he became appealing to the female weyrfolk for no reason he could see (although he heard rumors that something called "puberty" had rendered a significant change in his appearance). When he started becoming friends with some of the women, they liked him even more because he seemed generally interested in their personality, instead of their pants. Maezil was delighted with the arrangement. He had friends, and the other boys were even jealous of him! He never questioned the fact that he preferred men and decided not to make a big deal of it for fear that the women wouldn't want to be his friend anymore.
Things got even better when he Impressed to his beloved Oneith. He passed weyrling training without incident. Then, a turn later, his mother passed away. M'zil was depressed for quite some time after that. Things finally turned around again when Oneith discovered a special ability--Searching.
M'zil became one of the Weyr's best Searchriders. However, he was also making trouble because he kept bringing up the idea of Thread falling again. One day, he went out on Search and never came back. In fact, he had left for Pearl Bay Weyr.
