Name: K'tran
Age: 25
Rank: Bronze rider
Gender: male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Looks: K'tran is pretty tall, about 6'2, and thin. Basically, he's a beanpole. He looks pretty gawky, and while at his age he has mostly managed to tame his flailing limbs, he will still knock over a vase or lamp every once in a while.
Another thing that K'tran does not do is tan. He is typically one of three things: Pale, sunburned, or freckled. In the winter, it's pale, in the summer, it's sunburned--unless he remembers to wear a hat, in which case he has freckles all over his face and anywhere else that was exposed.
K'tran has very light brown hair that he keeps short for convenience while dragonriding. His eyes are very wide and a pretty shade of light green, perhaps one of his best features.
Personality: K'tran's personality is, like that of most people's, complex. To say that he is bright, sunny, and friendly--which he is--is merely a scratch on the surface. He is kind and helpful, and always seems to be cheerful. However, his flaw is that he tends to hold his real emotions inside and is afraid to show when he is upset. He tries not to let things bother him, but once something does, he dwells on it and lets it eat at him. Sometimes he relies on wine to draw him out of such a depression, but Gelorth is usually the one who succeeds at doing so.
One of the things that worries K'tran most is where or not he is being a good dragonrider. He is determined to be a model, moral dragonrider, with no little slip-ups. On top of that, he is a hopeless romantic and longs to fall in love with the right person someday, instead of having flings on a whim with any old girl.
History:
(Sorry it's so long. )
Ketran was born to a flirtatious, troublemaking candidate and a naive lower caverns woman. His father, Kelan, forced his mother, Traena, to keep the pregnancy a secret until the Hatching, where Kelan impressed his Green Valuth. When the Weyr found out who the father of Traena's baby was, there were consequences, but there wasn't much they could do. K'lan already had Valuth, so whatever they took away from him couldn't really matter. The child, Ketran, grew up in the lower caverns being watched by his mother and the creche workers, while his father only made occasional visits, usually to spoil the boy with candy and toys rather than being a real father figure. Soon enough Valuth started rising and Ketran was joined by several half-sibs, almost all of them related to him through his father. Ketran was a well-behaved and happy child, and he loved dragons. He had his first serious injury when he jumped off a low ledge trying to fly and broke his arm. When he reached the age of 12, he desperately wanted to become a candidate. His father encouraged it, but his mother, who distrusted riders because of K'lan, wanted her son to follow his alternate passion, Healing. Ketran reluctantly became a Healer apprentice. He was grumpy about it for a while, but he did grow to love his work. Still, there were many arguments about his continuing wish to become a candidate.
At the age of seventeen, Ketran was a Senior Healer Apprentice and still bargaining with his mother about the candidacy. He was watching a Hatching one day when a bronze hatchling started crying and panicking, unable to find his rider. All the boys in the stands of elibible age were called down, and as soon as Ketran came into view, the bronze ran to him. From that day on, he was K'tran, rider of Bronze Gelorth.
He passed Weyrling training without incident, and joined a Wing. Then the troubles started. Gelorth turned out to be a Dragon Don Juan, and he flirted with anything female that moved--Greens and Golds alike, and he sometimes practiced his lines on humans! The young rider, who was still a rather shy man, was embarrassed and flustered by his dragon's flirtatiousness, and things got even worse when Gelorth started chasing females when they rose. He participated in Gold flights with little success, and two turns after K'tran had graduated, won the first of many Green flights. This made things a little difficult for K'tran, but he still loved his dragon, and hey, it made life interesting.
When K'tran heard about Pearl Bay Weyr, he was intrigued. He didn't believe that Thread could be gone forever, and he decided to join the cause. He transferred to Pearl Bay Weyr to help prepare for Thread.
Pets: Brown Bungle- This fire-lizard is a small, scrawny, very dark brown. His left wing was injured during his hatching, and it is a little bent. He flies crooked because of it and is always running in to things.
-If a Rider:
Dragon Name: Gelorth
Dragon Age: 7 turns
Dragon Color: Bronze
Dragon Personality: Gelorth's personality can be summed up in one word: Flirtatious! He loves to flatter the females. He isn't a naughty flirt, but a gallant one, and he is always full of compliments. He also has an unusually strong sense of humor for a dragon, and he only seems to be serious in the most dire of circumstances. In a disaster, his leadership role usually consists of cheering everyone up and making sure that no one slips between the cracks.
