Looks
The Eyes -> Noeln has bright green eyes. The coloring is abnormal, with the green being darker near the pupil and lighter around the edges. If seen in the darkness it looks as if the outer part of his eyes glow.
The Hair -> Noeln has sandy-brown hair that falls to below his ears. It waves outward, which saves him from looking dorky. It is this long because he doesn’t want anyone to see his neck.
The face -> Noeln’s face is angular and hard-looking. This is quite a contrast to his personality. In fact, his face is rather hard and it looks uncaring. He has a slight scar on the right side of his chin.
The body -> Noeln is a rather strong man. He has muscles on his arms and legs and even on his chest. The muscles aren’t as noticeable as a Terran weightlifter’s muscles, and can’t even be called ‘noticable’ at all.
The clothes -> Almost as if he doesn’t like his body, Noeln wears loose-fitting clothes. His usual apparel includes neutral colored tunics and pants. He usually wears boots, but can be seen equally in boots or sandals.
The scars -> Noeln has a variety of scars besides the one on his chin. The only ones visible are the ones on his wrists and the one on the back of his neck.
Personality
->Noeln is a very cheery, very bubbly guy. The only problem is, he doesn’t show it. He has a hard, stony exterior, but if one gets to know him, he will most likely open up.
->Meeting new people is easy for Noeln. Even if he does have a hard, strong exterior everyone still gradually commutes toward him. Or, rather, he goes to them. He’ll keep up his strong-guy act until he knows that that particular person, or group of people, isn’t out to hurt him. After that he’s as open and cheerful as… well, as he is.
->Old friends Noeln meets warmly. He meets them like they’re brothers and sisters. He readily plays with them, jokes with them, and just has fun. He’s not a little emo kid, contrary to popular belief.
->When Pandorath is mentioned, Noeln addresses the topic for several minutes and then brushes it away. Pandorath was excellent, but he’s dead. There’s no use in milling in the past.
History
Noeln was born to a very troubled family. His life was harsh, but he survived. Many children born to trouble parents often end up troubled themselves, but not this little guy. This boy was cheerful, and always looked to the bright side of things. Noeln’s mother, Natal, and his father, L’nor, had both wanted a female child. Both were dragonriders, Natal of Green Kelpth and L’nor of Brown Torinicantinath. After Natal had Noeln the Weyr’s Healer said Natal could no longer have children. It had something to do with her being a dragonrider and going between all the time.
So, because he was not a girl, his parents, particularly Natal, bullied him. He grew up with bullying parents and no friends. When he was old enough to get to go to the Weyr ‘school,’ he considered himself lucky. Why lucky? Because he no longer had to worry about his parents. By his eleventh Turn of life he had almost completely forgotten (or started to ignore) about his parents hatred of him. In fact, L’nor had accepted him for who he was. Natal was the only one who still held a grudge (for something he didn’t do, either).
In a disastrous turn of events Natal’s Kelpth and Kori’s Green Deepth rose to Fly together. The two waged a war in the sky that ended in Kelpth and Deepth disappearing between forever. Natal, enraged and saddened by Kelpth’s sudden departure, stormed into Noeln’s bunk. The boy, still half asleep, did not stop the distraught woman as she dragged him into her Weyr. Noeln was 12 Turns old.
Once in the Weyr, Natal used a sharp rock to cut Noeln’s wrists. The first cut wasn’t deep enough, so she cut deeper. Deeper and deeper still, until blood was pouring out of both arms. But Noeln did not die. Next she bunched up her bed furs and somehow made a vague looking noose. She wrapped it over her son’s head. Noeln was by now fully awake and screaming in pain as well as fear. Natal found a hooked formation on a wall high above the point where Noeln could stand, even on tip-toes. She strung him up there. The profusely bleeding boy clawed at his throat with his hands. The pain and effort to stay alive was so great that the boy sunk into unconsciousness.
L’nor had heard the boy’s screams and had urged Toricantinath to Natal’s Weyr. There he found Noeln hanging limply from the noose and Natal grinning maliciously. L’nor cut his son loose and bound Natal while Toricantinath told the Weyrwoman’s dragon what had happened. Natal was Shunned and sent away to a Firestone mine the next day.
Noeln survived the brutal attack but would have scars for the rest of his life. That is why he grew out his hair, to hide the scars the fur-noose left. He stayed in the Healer’s Weyrs for quite some time, and after he left the Healer’s Weyrs he could not do much with his hands for an even longer time. Two Turns to be exact. Noeln forced himself, at the age of 14, to work out. His arms could not carry much at first, but soon they grew more adept at these such things and strengthened both his arms and legs.
At 15 he decided to try and Impress a dragon, and was promptly Searched. He did, and Blue Pandorath had become his. Soon after, though, the Blue’s heart began to fail, and at the tender age of two sevendays, Pandorath went between forever. No’ln was again Noeln, and for a whole Turn he sat, distraught. How could such things happen to him? Gradually, though, he realized that he would still be able to Impress another dragon. He, though he still felt like a piece of his heart was torn forever, began to lighten up. Soon, near his 18th Turn, he was almost back to his old self. Apart from appearing stony all the time, Noeln was again Noeln. Now, yet again, Noeln is a candidate.
