The Weyr
Pearl Bay weyr was found in the southern part of the Western continent. After the first known pass, firelizards had taken residence in the coves along the shore, without thinking about it they also brought along with them, seeds and such which helped vegitation grow. With the unaltered lizards there to protect it, the land prospered. It happend in the first interval that some sailors happened upon a large cove that would be great for dragons, if modified.
They went back to Fort Weyr and told the Weyr Leader and Woman there about that set of caverns. The leaders then went to check it out and found that with modifications it could be made livable, but there wasn't any current need for another weyr. Nor was there an easy manner in which to build this weyr.
Still they set up plans for it to be modified so that once the populations were bigger then they could use it. Like all the weyrs, it has the indoor plumbing which is so convenient. The bay cliffs the weyr was built into had natural heating that would make bath water steaming.
Records were kept on what went in and out of that last weyr. However, it was never needed and knowledge of it vanished over the turns.
It wasn't until the 10th pass that it was found. And Threads still spinning erratically, that a Queen of unusual size and color was hatched, as well as a male that was silver and another female that's bigger than greens and blues hatched. The Queen had a peculiar sheen to her. She looked as if she were a golden pearl. The silver, although Male, also had a sheen and was larger than even the bronzes. As the young queen grew, her young rider became worried as the weyrleaders were restricting her on what she ate in hopes of stunting her growth so that she would not get bigger than Ramoth.
The following turn, from another queen, two more silvers were hatched. It was becoming slightly obvious that the larger silvers were more likely to contend for the unusual queen than bronzes.
After having completed Weyrling training, the young queen rider, Jasmyn by name, took her queen and the other two riders of the unusual colors out for a flight, hoping against hope to find a place that would be suitable for habitation.
They stummbled across Pearl Bay, by way of their Dragons listening to what the flitts had to say and being curious about the place themselves. For you see, the flitts remembered seeing the people come and go from the place, prepairing it and then just leaving it and not coming back.
After staying about a seven-day, which is the most they dared stay away from the weyr, Jasmyn literally stummbled into the cavern that could be the hatching one, provided the enterance was widened for Azarith to enter. With a glow basket, she set to explore the cavern and found a large side enterance that obviously led to the Weyrling Barraks, for the low rise stone beds could be for nothing else. On the North wall, there was the candidate barraks connected to the cavern, as well as the lowever caverns for easier access to get to the food and go do chores.
After exploring for a few hours, Jasmyn was told by her dragon that the other two riders were getting worried that she hurt herself, so she had to go back out and tell them what she found. After the three did more exploring, they managed to open up the entire weyr, finding the individual weyrs, the queen and senior queen weyrs. All of it. It was there, only needing some dusting and the hatching ground enterance made bigger for Azarith, but it was there and ready for them to make use of it....
The Holds
West Bay Hold was created around the same time as Pearl Bay. Shortly after Pearl Bay was well under way to being made fit to live in again, a message was found in the weyrleaders' record room. On that message was information, telling them about a hold that would just need holders to occupy it. There was a thick bound record that the records of the hold was kept in. In that there was several well drawn pictures. One in particular stood out, with referance points that would change very little or not at all. Using those referance points, the hold was found. Holders were brought to clean it up and repair what needed repaired. Just like the weyr it had sat, waiting to be found again.
