Dragon Colors
Queens:
Pearl:
Pearls are the largest female dragons on pern, growing even bigger than Golds. Pearls are the only queens that can lay other pearls, they can also lay a gold in the same clutch but that is very rare. Silvers and large bronzes are the only ones that catch them. Their colors range from green, pink, blue, purple, and white; all having that 'mother of pearl' sheen to it. (If you’ve seen the inside of and oyster shell before, you’ll know what I'm talking about.) Azarith is the only gold colored one, because she is the first, and therefore clutch-mother to all pearls to come. Impress to Heterosexual Females Only.
Gold:
Second largest female dragon on pern. Gold can lay other golds but cannot lay pearls. Silver, Bronze and browns catch them in flights. Lays 10 to 16 eggs at a time, more closer to when the red star passes, usually double or triple, sometimes more. Hides range from pale yellow to dark antique gold. Impress to Heterosexual Females Only.
High Ranking Males:
Silver:
Largest Male on pern. Silver grow to be as big as golds, if not bigger. They can catch any color female they desire, usually preferring the golds, pearls, and sometimes scarlets. Silvers are the highest ranking males and know it though they do not say it, they demand respect like the queens(although they do still respect the queens). Impress to Heterosexual Males Only.
Bronze:
Second largest male on pern. Hides have a golden-green sheen, occasionally a few can be found nearly as dark as a brown. Their personalities tend to take after their riders in some way or other. Impress to Heterosexual Males Only.
Rainbow:
Rainbows are high-ranking. They know it and they are proud of it. They have an ego the size of the planet and they know that they can easily out do any Bronze. They tend to go for males that have potential and don’t know it. They believe that makes them easier to shape into what they want rather than what the rider wants.
They will chase anything, but have a slim chance of catching a Pearl Dragon. Rainbows are any combinations of 5 or more colors on their hides. They could be pastel colors, neon, anything you could name they could be it. But you will never see one with drab colors such as greys, or blacks, very rarely will one have white on it. Often, the colors reflect their personalities. They all know themselves to be to be high-ranking because they can catch golds, and rarely pearls.
Impress to Heterosexual Males Only.
Lower Ranking Colors
Color-Phase:
Color-Phase dragonets have a solid base color and several splashes of other shades of the same color through out their hide. They can change their hide color to match any of the splashes of color or the base color of their hide. Color-Phase can be –any- color of dragon except Rainbow and rank accordingly. They can also be male or female and Impress accordingly.
Females can clutch according to what color they are (eg: If it's a Color-Phase Gold will clutch in the same parameters as a normal gold). They are also are also caught according to their coloring. A Color-Phase Gold won't be caught by say a Blue.
Males fly according to Color. You won't see a Color-Phase Blue catching a Pearl dragon. Can Impress to anyone, it simply depends on gender and what base color they are.
Note: The Color-Phase dragons do not change from one rank to another (like from bronze to silver) they change hide color. So if you Impress a Silver Color-Phase, it is an equivalent of a Silver Dragon...except that its hide can change to different silver colors based on the splashes in its hide (like from dark silver to light silver).
Just so this is a bit more clear, Color-phases aren't color's of their own, but they're more like a marking in a sense. Somewhat like with pintos, for horses, they can be a breed such as arabians, or quarter horses, etc, but that doesn't mean they are a breed all their own. Color-phases are much the same. They can be Pearls, Golds, Silver, Bronze, Brown, Scarlet, Blue or even Green, and whichever color they are they are only everal shades of that color on their hides.
Brown:
Third Largest male on pern. Hides range from tan through chocolate brown. Browns are pretty laid back as far as personality goes. They are the middle ground between the kings and the other males and make excellent search dragons.
Browns can fly almost any female below a queen and have even been known to try for a Gold occasionally. Usually Impress to Heterosexual males, but sometimes Bisexual/Homosexual males, occasionally Bisexual/Homosexual females.
Scarlet:
Third Largest female on pern. Scarlets can be any shade of red, more often being a bright flamboyant red. They're about as big as a brown, but a little smaller, yet still bigger than blues. Scarlets can lay clutches, but theirs are small ones consisting of up to 5 eggs and no more. Which ever male catches them is what depends on the hatchlings. There will never be a pearl, gold, or silver in their clutches. If a silver catches them, then there's a chance there are bronze in one of the eggs. Rarely do blues catch them, if at all. Impress to either Males or Females of any Sexuality.
Blue:
Fourth smallest male. Nearly the entire blue spectrum. As far as personality goes, you never know what you'll get from a blue. Some are amazingly patient and playful, some are highly social, and others are more withdrawn and would be content to just be with their rider.
No matter what you get in a blue, they all have one thing in common. They are ambitious when it comes to mating. They will try to fly anything and thus usually come away as the loser. Impress to Bisexual/Homosexual Males or to Bisexual/Homosexual Females.
Green:
Fourth smallest female. Nearly the entire green spectrum. Greens are the flirts of Pern. If it's male they will flirt with it and there are very few exception to this rule. Some greens have also been known to be extremely hyper.
Normally greens are sterile, but an exceptionally large green may clutch. It would have no more than four eggs and it would be shocking if at least one were not a dud. Impress to whoever they want, but usually Bisexual people.
