Arilan stood in the Weyr bowl contemplating. He had quite a bit to think about. And a shoulder ornament.
His little bronze was the cutest thing, although growing very rapidly. Not as fast as a dragon would.
The shy girl had Impressed the queen, and it hadn't been a normal firelizard queen. It had been a miniature copy of Azarith.
That and the scarlet and rainbow firelizards had him thinking. "Why all the new colors, now...what are they for?" He was mostly asking his bronze, but he would be oblivious to anyone approaching.

Andol was walking through the Weyr Bowl with his two new firelizards on his shoulders and Iron in his arms as usal. He then saw Arilan with his new bronze. He walked up to the other boy and shyly said to him " Hey Arilan how are you?" Even though he had his two new firelizards he was still just as nervous had he had been before. He would never have talked to Arilan had he not knew him. Though his new firelizards made him less neverous around people he already knew. His two new firelizards Sapphire and Clay looked at Alrian and chriped there greetings at him.

Arilan smiled. "Hey there." Ife, of course, chittered at his clutchsibs.
"How many do you have now...planning on collecting an entire fair, there?" he inquired, grinning a little bit.

Andol smiled had Arilan and siad " Yep. Plus having more of them makes me fell less nervous. Yet not by much, but at least it is some. Ife is very pretty." He said the last part looking at the bronze.

Apparently understanding that he was being admired, Ife struck a pose. Arilan laughed.
"He's all bronze, he really is. Hatched knowing it. I bet he'll be flirting with all the golds soon..." A pause. "What did you think to mini-Azarith?"
That was one pretty, pretty firelizard.

Andol aslo laughed at the prideful bronze. He then thought about the mini-Azarith he smiled and siad " I think that she is the most bueatiful little thing." He thought that it was a very pretty little firelizard.

Arilan nodded. "Not that I'm jealous of Roasha. Queens are a handful, after all. So are bronzes." He gave Ife a wry look.
Maybe, he thought, the former drudge would perk up a bit. She had not been given the egg, the pearl had chose her and been very decisive about it. It might help her self esteem.

At the mention of Roasha Andol smiled and he then siad " I am very happy for her. She wanted one of her own and I think that she will be happy with the pearl. It will be good for her." Andol hoped it would. Just like him having these other two firelizards helped him be more confendient in himself. Yet though not by much. He knew though that he would always be shy.

Arilan nodded. "And I'm very happy with Ife. Had to say, I wasn't expecting to get a bronze. Especially not such a handsome one..."
A pause. "Or am I just biased?"
Ife chirped and nuzzled Arilan's cheek. He seemed quite pleased with the bargain, too.

Andol smiled at him and siad to him " Trust me you are just biased. You will always be biased to think your own firelizard is the best. That is the way I am with Iron, Clay and Sapphire." Then Clay and Sapphire who where sitting on ethier of Andol's shoulders both rubbed there heads agnist etheir of Andol cheeks.

Arilan grinned, then, evilly. "So, what if somebody made you pick the best one out of your three?"
Ife was the best firelizard on Pern. Would that change if he got another one? And, of course, when he got his dragon, then the dragon would come first. That was the nature of things.

Andol looked at all three of his firelizards and then he smiled and siad " That person would be out of luck becuase they could never make me choose. I love all three of them just the same." All his firelizards chriped at him affectionatly. Andol smiled at them and then held Iron closer. His affection for his fair shown in his eyes.

Arilan grinned. "I was just teasing. They're all cute."
Ife, was not going to be cuddled, himself. He stayed on Arilan's shoulder and then tugged on the boy's hair some.
"Ife! That's attached!"

Andol's two firelizards on his shoulders looked at Ife and then at Andol's hair and began to to become curious. They both then began to tug on Andol's hair and he siad " Hey guys that hurts stop it." He siad this as he tried to pull the two off his hair and he siad " It's attached on me too guys." He siad this yet at the same time he was luaghing.

Arilan laughed. "Man, mine is corrupting yours." He got Ife detached, and then tempted him with a treat.
"They're all crazy, but we love them."
Now he wanted his dragon more and more.
