Jasmyn was in her weyr, going over some of the dusty records left at the weyr. She was surprized they were still in such good condition. She sighed softly. She stopped, leaning back in her chair some and rubbing her eyes before stretching. She'd been at it for several hours now. She looked into Azarith's weyr when she heard her queen move restlessly. She got up and moved into the weyr to look at her queen. She sighed softly before heading out, towards the feeding grounds. She knew her queen was very likely to rise once she awoke. She figured that if she headed to the grounds then that she wouldn't have to rush.
Azarith woke abruptly. She got up and went to her ledge. She spread her wings wide and roared a challenge, an anouncement of sorts. She dropped from the ledge and went quickly to the grounds, getting hold of two beasts at once. One in her jaws the other between her claws. She didn't bother going up to a feeding ledge, but rather just folded her wings and dropped to the ground. She dropped both beasts, cutting open the belly of the one that had been in her jaws, prepairing to eat the intrials.
-Don't you dare Azarith. Take the blood only, you must fly high and far.- Jasmyn was focused fully on her queen. Azarith turned her head toward her mine and hissed in difiance. She turned her head back once again and prepaired to do what she wanted, eating it. -I mean it Azarith, BLOOD ONLY!- Azarith grumbled some but obliged her rider. Nearly the same thing with the second. That time was a little easier for Jasmyn to win the mental battle.

All the bronzes and silvers would have blooded their kills, and normally the moment her announcement was sounded, they'd leap up after her, but not Kaerth, he watched, uncertain. His might not want him to Chase, and he just couldn't disobey His' wishes. He wanted to Chase, oh yes he wanted to, and the look he gave Azarith was purely torn. He'd blooded, but he wasn't sure, what if His was angry- Do you want to chase? ...Yes. Then hurry up ad get up there. Try your best.
That was all the encouragement the immense silver needed, spreading pale wings and launching off his weyrledge with a loud bugle to announce that he was entering her flight. Unlike others, his size made it hard for him ot be fast, but he was going to try, no matter what anyone said. Wings arched and beat at the air, he was going to follow her to the ends of Pern, and he was going to keep trying, always going to try. Beautiful Azarith, I will Chase, I will fly until my wings can no longer hold me in the skies, until you sed me from your Flight in disgrace. Crooning lowly to her, Kaerth's shyness seemed to be shed in the flight.
It was still there though, the way he paused, the way his flight after her was careful, as though he was worried that suddenly, suddenly, she wouldn't like him. They might have a common ground in their protection for Crys, but that meant nothing, Kaerth wasn't fast. Wasn't quick like other bronze's, but his bulk would give him stamina, would give him the endurance to last if nothing else. He'd last, he'd fly, and His was with him, was givinghim support. With His' love, with His' support, and with the lust and desire for Azarith strong in his heart, there wasn't anything that could stop him!
D'nor made his way down to the Feeding Grounds, frowning slightly, Kaerth never chased, never wanted to. Azarith was different, obviously, and Kaerth actually liked the young Queen, it was different, and Jasmyn was a lovely person. She really was, and D'nor liked her, she'd stepped in over the issue with Kai and even though the silver rider wasn't sureit had stopped, he knew Jasmyn to be a great leader.. No matter who won this Flight, D'nor would help her. Hopefully, though, for Kaerth's confidence (nothing of course about the fact Jasmyn was very attractive) that Kaerth could prove himself to the glowing Queen. Sighing, D'nor allowed his thoughts to join with Kaerth's.
*
Azarith flys, I chase. Thorith gave nor more than that, instantly leaping into the skies with a bugle for the glowing queen he would chase, Kaerth followed moments later and the bronze seemed to double take, the other dragon was larger than him by a head, maybe more, but that would make things hard for him, muscles or not, Thorith trilled, darted around Kaerth and chased after Azarith, Kaerth might be strong, might be able to keep up but the smaller bronzes and silvers would most likely have an advantage.
Fly, beautiful Azarith, fly far from us and lead us on a chase. Words were simple, but with a delicate trill to let her know he meant them. It was nice to be able to chase a queen again, and he would chase, he'd try his hardest, for Azarith would choose a mate that was best for her and in the end, Thorith hoped it would be him. It might not be, but it certainly would be a good dragon, someone who would look after her while she was on the Sands, it would have to be a strong mate, someone who could last the flight... He could. He knew it.
D'ran sighed softly as he jogged down to the Feeding Grounds, much as he supported Thorith, he didn't know he'd win, he'd chased golds before, chased all of them, but he never won. Never. Maybe he would this time, since Azarith wasn't really a gold. Nodding to Jasmyn as he stood next to D'nor. "Weyrwoman." He murmured even if he wouldn't hear her, then let his mind flow into Thorith's.

Of course. S'cyn sighed to himself and rushed out of the bath. Azarith just had to Rise while he had his pants down taking a bath.
He rushed to his bed and grabbed his pants. As he pulled them on, he vaulted to Rodath's neck. Come on Rodath, leave me at the Weyrwoman's Weyr.
Rodath had been oddly quiet, but he rumbled to his rider and took off. They glided to the ledge of the Weyrwoman's weyr and Rodath stayed only long enough to let S'cyn off.
" Fly well Dear Heart." S'cyn yelled after the dragon. He turned to the Weyrwoman as he heard/felt Rodath blood his kill. " Hello Weyrwoman." He smiled with wet hair dripping water onto his bare shoulders.
Rodath had finished the first and was leaping for his second as Azarith was finishing her second kill off. S'cyn sighed, taking a place close to Jasmyn as he began to feel the tinges of lust build.

Lagarth blooded his kill as before Azarith even woke. He knew what was happening, but he didn't tell H'carn, for fear of H'carn freaking out on him. H'carn felt it though at about the time that the queen woke from her slumber. H'carn stumbled down to the feeding ground, half hoping that Lagarth would decide that he didn't need to fly the pearl queen, but knowing that Lagarth would never change his mind. Seeing the men standing around Jasmyn, H'carn almost ran, but instinct was to strong a pull, and slowly he made his way near.
Lagarth awaited the queen's rising silently like a feline stalking a herdbeast. He knew what he wanted, even if his rider didn't. His blood had risen after blooding his kill and unknowingly he had pushed H'carn toward the others little humans. He was Lagarth and Azarith deserved only the best, and that meant him. He should be the winner, for he was the silver Lagarth

Decoth gave an excited trumpet to echo Azarith's roar. She was rising! This was a dragon he wouldn't lose- Decoth would catch her. The starts of lust and his own self-pride made the Bronze feel very sure of that.
V'ri grinned and gave the giant Bronze's shoulder a slap and hopped onto his back. Go win it then, he urged as he put up an arm to protect his face as Decoth took off from the lake in a great splattering of droplets. The dragon's hide glistened from the water he had just been in; Azarith's rising was allowing Decoth to avoid a bath. Just whether the dragon was happy about that or not could be questionable, but surely a Flight was better. Decoth quickly dropped His off at the queen's weyr and then took off again.
Decoth's eyes were already shining an excited and lusty purple when he landed on a ledge at the edge of the feeding pens. Azarith was there, her pale hide glistening, as were two Silvers and two other Bronzes. He headed to a pen a fair distance from the Pearl, Decoth didn't want to offend her by going to near, and captured a large mare.
It didn't take long to blood his first and Decoth was quick to catch another herdbeast. One eye lingered on Azarith, carefully inspecting and admiring her as he sucked the blood from his prey. He would be ready when she took off, and he would catch her.

Azarith hissed menicingly at the males that came too near to her in the feeding pen. She soon just ignored them and went after her second and fourth beasts. The mental struggle between her and her rider lessening as she realised that blood was what she wanted and needed.
Azarith sucked greedily at her newest kills. Her eyes whirled quickly. They were red with purple mixing in as she was getting nearer to taking off. Jasmyn didn't pay too much attention to the male riders that were getting close to her. Her attention was fully on Azarith, to make sure she did not gorge on any of her kills. Tidalwave was purposefully absent, avoiding the event. More than likely out chasing after a green, or perhaps a scarlet flitt.
Once she had finished her fifth beast, this one on the small side, so more like four and a half, she launched skyward, bulging her challenge. She headed higher right after, glancing behind her to see who all followed. Jasmyn was with her queen, so that they flew together, whatever Azarith felt, Jasmyn felt. Jasmyn was still partly aware of the riders around her.

Lagarth took off after the pearl queen at fast as his gigantic wings would take him. H'carn became part of lagarth as dragonlust took him in. He felt the wing beneath his wings as he flew higher. He felt the joy of flying and chasing such a lovely dragon. His whole, undivided attention was focused on Azarith, praising her strength and beauty. He focused on trying to catch her.

Decoth was just finishing his fourth beast when Azarith took off. He immediately spread his wings and leapt after her, frightening the already panicked herdbeasts even more by shadowing them with his great wingspan. The Bronze paid little attention to them though, once he was in the air he focused fully on the Pearl queen flying ahead.
Although still careful not to go too close to Azarith, Decoth didn't let his gaze wander from her glistening hide. Such a lovely queen; she would be his. The Flight had only just started, yet Decoth could feel his lust rising quickly, powering every stroke of his wings, every movement of his tail that swayed to keep him in balance behind her.
What queen wouldn't want to choose him? Perhaps this one was a Pearl, an odd mutation that Decoth didn't have as much faith in as he would a real Gold, but she seemed very beautiful now. Perhaps even more than a Gold with her hide that swirled with so many colors. Decoth crooned softly to her. He didn't want the Flight to end anytime soon, but did want to get Azarith's favor from the start.

(Jas has asked me to seperate the posts for Kaerth and Thorith, so I'll post one, then wait for Nick, and post Thorith.)
Body was tensed, immense body crouching low to the ground, whirling eyes fixed on one being, one being that in that moment was the center of his world. She blooded, more beasts than the bronze's and silvers did, five in total, before she launched herself into that sky, and that, that was what every bronze and silver had waited for.
Every tension in the silver's body was released, and his wings swept out, pushing him into the sky with the combined effort of his legs and wings moving in the same moment, strong and steady beats in time with his heart. She was lovely, she was beautiful, she was sweet and kind, Kaerth wanted to win, he wanted to. It was no mere gold flying before him, no little gold, a bright shining pearl that led them on a chase now.
Crooning low in his throat to her, Kaerth watched the others, could any of them prove themselves worthy? Could he? Could he show Azarith that he would be a good mate? Maybe, and maybe not. Another low croon and the silver pushed his doubts away.
Caught up in Kaerth's mind, D'nor had almost forgotten what it was like to be so close to his dragon, so close that they were no longer rider and dragon, they were one and the same, Kaerth. He could feel the wind beneath his wings, could see the ground flashing beneath him, but most of all, he saw Azarith. Beautiful, sweet Azarith.

Thorith watched her silently, body posed to spring off the ground, he was good at this, he knew this well. How often had he chased, felt this same rush of energy and lust for one glowing form before him. Always another was chosen above him, not this time. Not this time.
Growling low in his throat at the other dragons, his eyes settled, and stayed on Azarith. Glowing brightly as she should. She would take off soon, soon, and he'd pursue, and this time he'd try his best, this time he'd show her how good he was. She wouldn't want another mate. Confident? Yes, definately. Arrogant? Maybe just a little right now.
She took off, and Thorith's voice rose to join hers in a loud bugle, taking off after her in a flurry of grass and dirt, wings beating powerfully as he leapt into the sky.

Azarith was using thermal up drafts to get higher, faster, without wasting any energy. She looked behind her, moving her head under her wing to do so. She rumbled encouragement to her males. She wanted them to give her their all. She liked the flashier hides of the two silvers more than that of the bronzes, but hides weren't everything.
Endurance would be what the male needed most of. She moved her head again so she could see ahead of her once more. Her choice was not going to be so easy on her. She'd have to get the weaker ones to drop out, or decide on her own which would be the best sire for her clutch. The latter was more likely. All of the males were in good shape and in the prime.

Decoth didn't need to use thermals to follow Azarith, he had plenty of energy and would be fine following on his own strength. The Pearl queen would want a male who was strong, and Decoth definitely was. He would follow her through the Flight, catch her at the end, and carry her through the freefall. Decoth would make a wonderful mate, he was sure of it.
It didn't seem to Decoth that Azarith was testing the group much yet. He would perform himself then, show her that he was a worthy choice. He wouldn't only follow her in what she did, he could think of his own tricks. For now the Bronze decided he wouldn't waste too much energy on a trick, he could really show off more at then end. He performed a couple rolls, folding one wing and then the other so that he twisted different ways.
Would she like it? Decoth hoped so.

((I wasn't going to join late, but it seems like another chaser would be good, so. I'm pretending he was here the whole time.))
Gelorth followed Azarith's ascent, beating his wings steadily. He copied her, using the same thermals she did to save energy as he rose higher into the air. He crooned as she looked back, his eyes whirling an even deeper shade of violet. Wanting to impress her, he climbed higher, then pulled into a short dive back to her level.
He glanced at the other males. They all seemed to be doing well, but they would get tired soon enough, and Gelorth was determined to be the last one standing. He was strong and he had endurance, and he would stay in the Flight no matter what.

With each steady wing beat, Kaerth was slightly more relieved. She didn't seem to be counting on speed, more strength and endurance, things that Kaerth could do. He could win her heart, yes, definately. All it would take was to stay in the air longer than the others, easy, no problem. Definately easy for him.
Another bronze was using tricks, clever, and certainly pretty. Tricks that Kaerth couldn't preform even when his life depended on a speedy reaction, now, he merely glanced at the bronze enviously. How lucky he was to feel that free and know he could please a queen with such pretty tricks. Well, hopefully they wouldn't sway Azarith too much.
Others were determined too, yes, he could see that. Surely none of them wanted her just as much though? For they surely only saw a glowing queen, rising and beautiful. Surely they would take off after the next green. Kaerth wouldn't. He couldn't say he knew the others would, but he knew that he wouldn't. That should Azarith choose him, he was hers.

Thorith was definately determined to win. Let the others do their petty tricks, he was subtly seeing who he thought was a challenge and who wasn't. Honestly, the largest silver didn't seem like a threat, he was big, but he wasn't speedy. No, and then that other silver, smaller. He was a bit of a threat, and so was the bronze doing tricks. Yes, they were, and they were the ones he would need to watch out for.
Crooning softly as though to draw her attention away from teh bronze with teh tricks - what was his name again? - Thorith allowed a low growl to escape at the nearest. He didn't want them all any where near his gold. Already convinced that he could win her over.
