Okay, normally I wouldn't rant on a board, but I know you guys and know you won't judge me.
So, this is the story, I'm doing research for a fun little project at school, I'm doing it on Disney movies, as you've all probably realised, I'm a disney fanatic. Not only does this get me ribbing from my friends, which I can deal with but the amount of blogs on Disney!
Most of them aren't realistic, yeah, get over it, look at the otriginal stories of these tales and tell me that you want kids watching them. One person had a go that the indians in Pochontas were 'noble and terrifying at the same time', yeah/ Well news flash people, they were noble people. Maybe not the Crow, they were known to be rather savage and it's that group that gave indians a bad name, byut Cheyenne's were noble and fierce warriors, they were known for it.
And so the little mermaid is a little cliche, get over it. Personally, I'd rather have my kids believing in happy endings rather than the original ending in whicht he young princess has had her tone cut out and the prince ends up marrying another, so she has to either kill him or die, and she chooses to die and becomes ntohing more than a sea breeze. Honestly people, the original stories that disney created were aimed aty kids, if you don't want happy endings, why watch them?
Disney's are good movies, they teach values as well as giving an enjoyable movie, without the gore. In the original version of Cinderella, it think it is, the sisters actually try and cut their feet to fit the shoe, do you want your kids watching it? It just pisses me off that pessimests can have a go at something that teaches that there can be a happy ending. Really, Disney encourages imagination amoung other things, would anyone want their kids growing up with so much reality shoved in there's no room for anything else?
Okay, I'm done, sorry about that.
