It wasn't unusual to see Carlion about the kitchens, helping in any way he could, or just escaping his smothering foster mother for the company of the other lower caverns women. It was unusual to see him skipping about humming silly tunes to himself for no other reason than the bright smile on his face. "I like dragons, milk and bubbly pies. I like dragons, milk and bubbly pies. I like dragons, milk and bubbly pies. Don't you like them too?" Laughing as his little tune ended, the eight turn old merely began again as one woman pointed him to a chair for his noon meal.
"I like dragons-" Carlion began happily, eyes sparkling as one woman laughed and ruffled his hair, "Growing up around them like you do. I don' blame you." A warm smile brightened Carlion's usually somber features and he nodded, though his voice was saddened a little when he spoke next. "I miss Hemith. I liked mama's dragon. She was pretty. But Azarith is pretty to. She's not a green though, nope. I like her though." Nodding seriously as he said this, his feet swung inches off the ground as tilted his head back to look at the ceiling.
"There you go, eat up." Lunch! A happy little sound coming from the tiny boy as his eyes lit up upon seeing the meatrolls and greens, he didn't like green's much, but always ate them. Just like he was taught. "Eat all that, and I'll see if I can get a bubbly pie for you." Carlion cheered with his mouth half full, looking up at ehr adorably. "Milk?" His request was met with a nod and the boy smiled. There was no denying that Carlion was a favourite in the kitchens, or with any woman really..
Nibbling happily at the greens he was given, Carlion felt almost lonely sitting by himself, it was a rare feeling for him, for he rarely wanted company, or boys his own age to talk to. "I like dragons, milk and bubbly pies." He began softly again, biting into his meatrolsl with a muffled 'yum'.

Tianthe and Willow were the first ones into the kitchen, bursting noisily through the door in a flurry of bronze, green, and loud chirps. Upon noticing some food on one of the tables, Tianthe emitted a screech similar to that of a hunting wherry and dove at it.
"Tianthe!" Tirasha had just walked in and probably couldn't reach the table and grab the little Green without some sort of insane leaping and probably a fair amount of pain and destruction. Luckily Willow was used to keeping his sister under control and dove too, bowling into the smaller fire-lizard and pinning her against the table near the plate of greens and meatrolls.
"Oh shards..." Tirasha hurried over and scooped both flitts into her thin arms. "I'm sorry, hopefully they didn't scare you..." The owner of the plate was a little boy, and it seemed very likely to her that they could have. Stupid fire-lizards. Willow chattered to Tianthe in a scolding tone, doing what Tirasha would have liked to do but didn't for her. The little Green turned to stare at the food, completely ignoring Bronze and Healer.

Carlion was more surprised then anything at the sudden activity from teh green and brown flitter, eyes widening and a small surprised yelp coming from the boy before he looked up at the woman, smiling shyly. "I like flitts." He murmured, kicking his legs above the ground with another smile before looking where teh green was looking. She was hungry? Oh well her noises made sense then.
Pickign up one of his meatrolls and breaking it in half, he offered the piece to the green happily, before looking seriously at the new person. "You should sit. I can get you some food." Solemn again as he slipped down from his chair, placing the other piece of meat roll on the table before moving to scurry off. Pausing momentarily. "I'm Carlion." Smiling then, he spoke sweetly as he nodded at a chair, "I'll be back."
Returning with the meat scraps and a few rolls for the young woman, Carlion placed them on the table before clambering up into his own seat again. "How'd you get your flitts?"

"That's good," Tirasha replied absently. She didn't think she would ever meet a person who didn't like flitts really. Tianthe squirmed out of Tirasha's arms and landed squarely on the table, creeling pitifully as though she hadn't eaten in days. When the boy held out half a meatroll to her, she pounced on it with great joy and began eating voraciously.
Shards, people were going to think she starved her flitts or something from the way Tianthe acted. How long had it been since she'd fed the Green, a few hours? Morning wasn't all that far from noon. She set Willow down and the little Bronze rushed to the other half of the meatroll the boy had left, eating in a much less violent manner than his sister. He enjoyed his food rather than just swallowing it before realizing it was even in his mouth.
"Erm, Tirasha." Her brows contracted slightly at the way the little boy acted; she suspected this was just one of the weyrbrats and wasn't particularly used to them acting very polite. Not thinking to deny the food- she probably wouldn't eat it- she sat down in the chair he had motioned towards.
She picked absently at one end of one of the meatrolls Carlion set before her, not very hungry, while Tianthe leapt upon one of the scraps of meat he had brought and began tearing away at that. Willow still hadn't finished his half of the first meatroll.
"How'd I get my flitts? Well... I was just on the beach one day and happened upon a hatching." She shrugged. "Through luck, I guess." Willow glanced at her and chirped indignantly. No, he had chosen her. There was no luck involved, only the intelligence of him and Tianthe.

Giggling softly at the way she pounced on her half, Carlion's eyes were alight with laughter while watching the flitters. Wouldn't it be nice to have a f'lizard one day, maybe when he was older. Carlion wasn't all that sure he would be able to look after one right now. His foster mother could help, but he could only imagine Serina's reaction if he brought back a flitt one day.
Smiling at her brightly as she offered her name, Carlion nodded happily, almost as though he'd known that. He hadn't of course, but he'd learnt that most weyrbrats acted like they knew everything. Silly people. "Tirasha. It's pretty, I like it, it suits you too." He spoke calmly, no hint of mischeif ordishonesty in his tone.
Despite the fact Tirasha was obviously older than him, Carlion was enjoying talking to her already. Her flitts were cute, and if she had flitts it meant she was a good person. "I wish I had a flitter. A green one, like mama's Hemith. She was pretty. Serina would faint if I brought one back though, she doesn't like them." Eyes widened at her explination and Carlion liooked from her to the flitters, "You just found them? Oh wow, you're lucky."

Tirasha raised her eyebrows slightly. No-one had ever thought to compliment her name... this boy did seem an odd one. Her name was pretty though, wasn't it?
"Maybe you could get one next time Tianthe clutches." Tirasha smiled at the little boy. "She lays big clutches for a Green and there's always other Greens in it too. You could probably get one." She decided not to ask about Hemith... the 'was' he used made her think the dragon wasa probably dead and if it was his mother's dragon... yes, that would probably be sad. Tirasha had never been very close to her mother. Maybe Carlion had though.
"Yeah." Tirasha nodded vaguely. "If you go out on the beach as much as I did when I was littler I'm sure you'd run into a wild clutch eventually. They're all over during the summer if one just knows how to look for them."

Eyes widened at the suggestion, Carlion shocked that anyone, especially someone as important as Tirasha, would make that sort of offer towards him. "Really?" The word was breathed out in wonder, Carlion nodding slowly, "Maybe, I'd like that. I'd call her Hemmy." Nodding slowly, Carlion smiled slightly at the woman.
Pausing a moment, Carlion shook his head a little, pulling a face that spoke volumes, before adding words too. "Mama used to take me out. We'd look, but never find. Serina don't want me to go out there anymore. She says I could fall, or drown. I don't think so. I'm a good climber." Never mind swimming, Carlion could float but that was about it.
"Are you a candidate? I think I'd like to be one one day."

Tirasha nodded, grinning. "I don't need the hatchlings for anything, just pop in at a hatching sometime." Tianthe definately rose enough, and judging from how hyper she had been lately (compared, at least, to the overload of energy she usually had) the flitt would probably rise soon.
A slight frown creased Tirasha's lips at that. "That's too bad. My aunt was sort of the same but gave up pretty quickly on stopping me from wandering." Resta had been too busy to keep track really, but had tried at first.... She hadn't been the type to really stick with things, especially keeping track of a girl who wasn't even hers. Tirasha hadn't minded at all.
"And no, I'm not a Candidate. I don't think I could make a good dragonrider, and apparently the dragons agree." She was happy enough as a Healer anyways, working in the presance of dragons without having to go to the work of really caring for them. Although that wasn't what she would really mind...

Smiling eagerly, Carlion nodded happily as he nibbled at the green's on his plate that had been forgotten. He wasw amazed, someone was offering to let him at a Hatching, so it wasn't a dragon hatching, it was just as good. "I'd like that. I don't have any flitters though, how will I know?" Any flitt even around Serina knew better than to show it's face or make a peep, the woman hated the small beasts. Why she'd chosen a weyr to live in, Carlion would never know.
"Serina says no one else will look after me. So she says she supposes she has to do it." Pausing a moment, the boy chewed thoughtfully, shaking his head slowly. "I don't think she likes me much. Or she doesn't like my pa." Shrugging, he smiled winningly at her, "Would you take me to the beach some time Tirasha? I'm sure we could find one if we looked together."
Snorting softly, Carlion swung his legs as he stared at her, personally, he thought she'd make a wonderful candidate. "I think whatever dragon looked at you was silly then. I bet you'd make a good candidate, I bet you'd get the gold. Or Pearl as it may turn out."

Tirasha finally took a small bite of her meatroll. She had never been much for eating, but of course she had to do it a little sometimes. "Willow could always pop over and tell you... and really, it's not that hard to tell. Whenever flitt eggs hatch they all start humming. As long as you know where a clutch is being kept you can just run over. Supposing you've been invited, I suppose." Tirasha usually made Tianthe's hatchings open. Anyone who wanted one of her young could come and hopefully they would Impress.
"Really? That's too bad. My parents didn't like me much, so I grew up with my aunt." Tirasha smiled slightly too. So she and the boy had a little in common... interesting. "She liked having me around though, but she was really too busy to do much with me."
Tianthe and Willow perked up at the sound of a trip to the beach. They loved going there. "Of course I could take you sometime." Tirasha grinned while Tianthe chattered excitedly. "Sounds like these two would like it too, and it's always easier to find a clutch when you have fire-lizards with you... they always know when something is being born." That was a trait that had always mystified Tirasha.
Tirasha raised her eyebrows, although the skeptical expression was accompanied by her usual smile. "You think so?" Personally, she doubted it. What dragon would want a rider who didn't like flying? Tirasha couldn't stand that sense of having nothing beneath her feet for long... but it was her secret. One really couldn't live at a Weyr and be afraid of heights.

Carlion nodded eagerly. He'd definately like that, he'd just have to listen out for the slightly higher pitched humming of the f'lizards. "I'd really like that. Serina would get over it." He nodded again, smiling brightly, his own little firelizard! His. A friend. He'd like that, a nice pretty friend.
Carlion's face fell a little but he attemtped to smile, he couldn't understand not being liked, his mother had always had time for him. "Mama loved me. She said she was never too busy for me. But then she died.. D'lion, my father, never liked me." It was nice to have something in common with someone, he only wished Serina would show she liked him.
"Really? Oh yes! I'd love that, really I would!" Shocked that she would actually agree to take him, Carlion's somber mood evaporated quickly as the boy practically bounced in his seat. "When can we go Tirasha?" He asked excitedly, smiling at the reactions from btoh flitts, they seemed to like the beach too, it would be fun to go out of the weyr again.
Noding seriously, Carlion looked at her two flitts and then her. "Yes, I think so." He said softly, before taking a sip of his drink. "You're much nicer than some of the candidates."

"Hopefully." Tirasha grinned and took another small bite of her meatroll. "Is a Green really what you'd want most?" Tianthe was insane... Tirasha never paid much attention to her offspring but they were probably worse. The Greens at least...
"Mmm." Tirasha nodded slightly. "I'm sure it's sad when someone you like dies." She had never actually been close to a person who died, but had heard enough to guess at that. Tirasha avoided close relationships mostly for that reason... she didn't much like being sad and what she felt if she failed at helping something she hardly knew was plenty enough.
"When? I don't know... sometime when I'm not busy I guess." She shrugged. There were plenty of those times. They could probably even go right then, or at least when Tianthe and Willow, maybe Carlion, finished eating.
"Maybe. But I don't think I'll be standing on the Sands anytime soon." And she only had three years before she was too old too... not much longer and she was safe. Her fire-lizards were more than enough; Tirasha liked tending to dragons when she needed to but couldn't quite see herself actually raising one. Yes, she had plenty of reasons not to be a Candidate.

Carlion nodded at her question, he'd always liked greens, bronzes were nice but green's were sweet tempered usually. Nothing like the arrogance of most bronze dragons. Or the very few he'd known. "Yes, I like green's. They're so sweet." He replied swiftly, a blue or brown would be nice too but not a high ranker, they were much too demanding.
"It is. It gets easier though cause I know she never really left. D'lion says as long as I remember her, she'll always be alive." Nodding slightly, Carlion ate the last of his greens with a thoughtful expression. Had no one she loved ever died? Well, she was awfully lucky, or maybe she just didn't like many people.
Excitement filled his face then, she wasn't just saying 'I'll see', that usually meant the adult had no intention of taking him, but she said, when she wasn't busy. That was good! "Oh yay! I'm usually helping out here, but they'd let me go if I asked. I'm sure they would."
Carlion grew slightly confused, blinking at her, "Don't you want to ride a dragon?" He asked softly, tilting his head to one side with pursed lips, he'd never meat someone who didn't want to ride dragons. "I think it would be awfully exciting..."

"If insane." Tirasha grinned. "Willow is much more even-tempered. But Tianthe has never hatched a Bronze anyways. You'd likely get a Green if you came." There were also Blues and Browns... but never many Browns, often only one or two, and the number of Greens usually outnumbered the Blue count.
"Yeah." Tirasha handed the mostly-uneaten meatroll she had been holding to Tianthe, who, as she had everything else, tore into it voraciously. Tirasha rarely ate lunch, just her flitts.
"I suppose it'd just be a matter of finding me again then." Tirasha frowned slightly, thoughtful. Her first idea was simply to leave a fire-lizard with him, Willow seemed the more likely candidate for that since he was better behaved... but exactly how long it would need to stay with him was questionable so she turned it aside. Carlion could probably come up with something.
Tirasha shrugged slightly, a faint flush running up her high cheeks. "It's not exactly my favorite pastime." The short rides she had taken on dragonback had been exciting, but in a frightening sort of way Tirasha didn't like. And she still couldn't get over the sensation of having nothing beneath you but the shoulders of a dragon, and there was nothing holding it up but air... and air seemed pretty insubstantial to Tirasha.

"Insane is good." Carlion said easily, flighty they mioght be but Carlion would always ghave a preference for the greens, simply because he'd had more contact with them. Not too mention, greens were often closer and less independant than golds and higher colours. "Maybe, I'll be happy with anything though."
Carlion seemed to think for a moment, all her really knew about Tirasha was that she had flitts and her name. Oh and she was nice. "Well, I know that you have to feed your flitts around lunch. Is there anywhere else I'm likely to see you alot?" He asked quietly, he was free to wander around most of the time, Sirena didn't ask for his help.
"Really? Wow, I think it would be 'mazing. I dunno though. Mama never took me on rides with Hemith, she said she would when I was older." Pausing a moment, Carlion frowned in thought, silent for a long moment before he spoke again. "I suppose it would be scary at first, wouldn't it? Being so high up."
