Nestled safely in the sands of the hatching cavern are seventeen firelizard eggs. They are guarded by the sire of the clutch, Zalren. He has been guarding them for about a sevenday, since his humanpet brought the eggs to the weyr. He has been very attentive to the eggs. Granted it was not very good at doing more than watching over them, he at least tried.
He began the hum as soon as it was time for them to hatch, and tried to get other firelizards to join him that were in the weyr. He alerted Azarith to the fact the clutch was hatching. She in turn told her mine. ~Firelizard eggs hatch in the caverns. If you wish to try for one of them, head there now or you will miss out.~[/color] was her announcement to the entire weyr.
Zinera was staying with the clutch. She was going to supervise everything since they were her bronze's little ones. The majority of the eggs were molted bronze or blue/green. There was one that seemed to look gold, of a sort, and four that looked silver. Wether or not those eggs had silver firelizards was impossible to tell. However they were a tad bit larger than most of the other eggs. The one odd colored one was the largest in the clutch.

Roasha jumped, startled, as the pearl dragon 'shouted' to the Weyr.
Oh, hey, flit eggs. She set down the skirt, one of her own, that she was re-hemming, and made her way to the hatching caverns, stopping to grab food on the way.
Dress rehearsal for Azarith's clutch, she thought, amused. Assuming Azarith did clutch. The girl stepped out onto the sands. "Hello, Zinera. Might I please try for a little one?"
--
Arilan, for his part, was in the middle of consuming a snack in the kitchens. He grabbed more food, from the scraps bins that people generally raided to feed firelizards, and then fairly ran to the Sands.
He skid onto them out of breath. "Somebody told me there were flit eggs." With a smile for Zinera, he settled into a comfortable position, generously placing his large plate of meat where others could get it.

When Andol heard there was flit eggs he became excited. Iron climbed up on his shoulder and he quickly went to the hacthing caverns. He realized when he got there that he had forgot to get food. Then he saw that Arilan had some more food. He then went and stood beside his friend even though he was neverous about how many people might show up he then smiled a small bit at Arilan and siad " Hello Arilan." He then saw Roasha and smiled. He got some of the food and moved to stand by her and siad to her " Hello Roasha." He then looked at her and smiled as Iron chriped his greeting at her.

Kaerth- D'nor began softly, glancing at the silver as the dragon hesitated. His had the little Ganesa, but he could think of another who would benifet more from a little cousin. Oh he could indeed. Whether to tell his or not.. Zadari might like one... he spoke gently, but at the same time, D'nor merely sighed, stroking Ganesa as the green clung to his shirt. "Well, we'll see." He was heading down to get a look anyway, so it didn't matter. Ganesa would like a friend, but D'nor was also afraid that the jealousy factor would set in, especially if he got a perfectly healthy one that could fly better. Ganesa, as though sensing his thoughts, pushed off from his chest, managed to stay in the air for a few wingbeats, before flopping down into his hands. See, she could fly.
Walking down to the hatching grounds, D'nor moved to stand beside Zinera, bending to mutter in her ear, "See, now Zalren puts golds out of a job. He's a good father. Better than most." Ganesa greeted the woman with an affectionate chirp though, climbing up to her minething's shoulder so she could watch properly, and hum along.
Zadari wasn't sure what had her going to see the clutch, she wrote it off as most people would be stupid and not bring meat, so she brought two buckets of freshly cut meat. The flitters wouldn't need much, but seventeen flitters. Heck, a green dragon could finish off two buckets straight after hatching, it was only normal to assume that flitters would be hungry too. Trying to keep the shakiness out of her voice as she bowed to D'nor, Zadari stood a bit back from the clutch.
"I figured most of them wouldn't bring food, or they'd bring human food. So I brought meat. You try and give me one Weyrleader, and I won't be grateful." There, that was enough warning. She was having enough trouble dealing with Sitath's death and standing again, any more stress, like a flitter, would be too much. Shards, she couldn't even imagine her own reaction if she ended up with a blue.
A flash of gold, and Chrissa swooped in, landing delicately on Zinera's shoulder with a soft, affectionate nuzzle. Hers was coming to watch because, as Chrissa was a gold, it was only right that Chrissa come see the hatching. Hers didn't want one though, she didn't think so, her arm was still so sore. Sigh. Moments after all this had been conveyed with emotion and image, Chrissa took off again, landing on Crys' shoulder as the girl came up.
She at least was smart enough to bind her arm, and hide bruises. Crys hadn't wanted to come to the hatching at all, but there was nothing she could do about it. Now, she merely bowed to the weyrleader, keeping her eyes averted from D'nor as she kept her arm held against her body. Seeing Andol, the girl immediately moved away, the memory of talking to him on the lake's edge still fresh. She did not want to talk about Kai, or the conversation.

The eggs were already begining to rock when Jasmyn arrived. Tidalwave was perched on her should, humming with the other firelizards. He was very enthusiastic about the hatching, maybe a little too enthusiastic. Tidalwave's enthusiasm just amused Jasmyn. Tidalwave chirpped a greeting to D'nor and Ganesa, then resumed the humming.
Zirmal dashed in shortly after Jasmyn arrived. There was enough of a resemblence between him and Zinera that it ought to be obvious they're siblings. Zalren greeted Zirmal affectionately, before resuming the hum. Zirmal went over to stand near his sister, out of the way. He was confident enough that even if he didn't get one this hatching that Zalren would catch another gold and he'd get one of those flitts, at least that's what he hopes.
Just then one of the silver molted eggs began to rock violently. Fissures were appearing on the shell, before a bronze head popped out. The little bronze creeled with hunger and fought to get out of his shell. He was antique bronze in color, with talons and membranes being a couple shades darker, closer to brown. His egg had rolled to Arilan's feet. He scrambled onto the boy's foot, shaking off any remaining egg goo. He began to climb up the boy's pantleg, loudly demanding food.

Arilan barely had time to get settled before the first egg cracked open. If a bronze first was good luck in a dragon clutch, then maybe it was mini good luck in a flit clutch?
And then it was climbing up his leg. He blinked and reached down to both offer it food and help it to his lap. "You're a handsome fellow. Who needs a name. A good name." He studied the bronze. Dark talons, average size, but very, very definitely bronze. "Ife," I think. He couldn't think of a descriptive name, so he picked one that sounded good!
Roasha flickered a grin as somebody Impressed, then turned her attention back to the rest of the eggs. A bronze first! And a healthy, handsome one. It felt like a good omen to the former drudge, although she was almost relieved it hadn't chosen her. She didn't rank a bronze, surely...

(This will be short. I didn't get much sleep)
Nodding slighty to Zinera, D'nor moved to greet Jasmyn with Ganesa twisting to keep one whirling eye on the shuddering clutch at all times. Bending to kiss her cheek, D'nor grinned at Jasmyn, before becoming serious and nodding towards the hopefuls. "I'm just glad he didn't come." He muttered darkly, a slight smile lighting up his face as the bronze hatched and promptly chose a boy. That could be a good sign couldn't it?
Zadari was hardly paying attention, glaring at the floor as she was. If someone needed the meet she'd brought, then they'd jst come over and ask, or help themselves, either one. She didn't care and she didn't want to watch this stupid hatching. So why weren't her feet moving anywhere? Why was she still standing there?
Crys honestly didn't really want another flitter, but Chrissa had some how learned to be demanding, and had dragged her along. Honestly, she couldn't expect another one to come near her, Crys was well aware her mind was in turmoil. She almost wished one of the other girls had come. She didn't know Roasha, and Shiane was always quiet, good company for Crys. Or so she believed. Smiling as Chrissa chirped her approval at the bronze, the little gold nodded her head and nuzzled Hers.

Well, of course Scaeva had to show up. She loved her current flitters, but would never mind adding more to her fair! Shy and Kih didn't look as excited as Theirs, but her bigger Blue was humming loud enough to make up for the two smaller fire-lizards more quiet welcome.
She was late... some eggs had already hatched. But hopefully she would still have a chance!
Brishen and R'keh arrived almost simultaneously, the Greenrider moving to the back of the crowd where hopefully a flitter wouldn't find him and the Candidate finding a place closer to the front. R'keh didn't want a flitt, but Amirinth did and wasn't going to let him off the hook here where he had a chance to get one.
Brishen just thought he'd try... he liked fire-lizards anyways, even though he didn't have any. His fingers were wrapped around a handful of meat, just in case. Maybe one would come to him, maybe not, but if one did, he would be ready.

Kett came to the flitter hatching at a run. She knew she was straight out late! Her Haith had told her to come though. So, she would make it, and hopefully she would impress, and soon because she had other things to do then stand around starring at flitters. what was the big importance of the things anyway? She still came though, not wanting to upset her Haith, since it was Haith's fault that she was here. Looking, she realized that one purty bronze had already hatched, so she was late, but not too late to impress to a little flit.

Following the bronze were two average sized greens and a small blue. The blue went out and snuffled about. Seeming to be far more curious about his surroundings than filling his belly. He got clear back to R'keh before his sisters' cries of hunger reminded him that he too had an empty belly. He latched to the nearest leg, R'keh's and pleaded for food.
Another, small green soon joined the other two still sitting on the sands, making pitious noises. They were waiting on someone to offer food to them, they weren't doing as their brother and currently hatched sister. The slightly older and bigger of the two was such a dark green she almost looked black, but not quite. Her sister was several shades lighter than that.
The smallest so far hatched, the little green, was spring green, the same color as new green blades of grass. She toddled over to Zadari, purposely bumping into her leg before looking up at Zadari. She cheeped for food. There was an inteligence in this one that was not normal for her color. She firmly coiled herself around Zadari's leg, but did not curl so tight that she was cutting circulation off.

Zadari had been quite content leaning away from the clutch, glancing over occasionally as one after the other Impressed. It wasn't until a sweet cheep sounded that she noticed the weight around her ankle, at which Zadari promptly scowled and shook her leg lightly. "Go away!" She growled, only to jump in shock at the presence in her mind. The love, the tenderness, the hungry. Weaker than Sitath's bond, but there, and soothing the raw wounds.
"No, shoo!" The green gave her a long, annoyed look. She wasn't shooing anywhere thank you. Finally, Zadari gave in and scooped her up in her hands, handing her a piece of meat unhappily. The Green chirped happily and took the meat delicately, purring as Zadari's thumb brushed her hide gently. Hers was so nice. She'd chosen well, indeed she had.
"Fine. You can stay, I'll call you Tila." Zadari growed, and the green merely cheeped in reply. She liked Hers. Tila was a pretty name, she could deal with that. She could yes.

Arilan managed to get his bronze stuffed full of food, then he glanced at Roasha The Shy. Well, no. Andol was worse.
Those two would probably end up weyrmated, he thought with amusement, each being the only person the other was not terrified of. Then he moved closer and murmured. "Why not try to attract the attention of one of those greens?"
She looked at him, startled, "I'm..." But then she moved her food close to the greens.
However, given she couldn't decide which one she liked best, it kind of wavered halfway, meat describing a vague serpentine in the air.
They were both too cute. How could anyone -choose-?

Kett was a little confused by the flits that refused. She sort of held out food and waited for a flit to come to her, she wasn't about to go them when they would probably just run off. So she waited, and waited, waiting for a flit to come to her and the food she held. (OOC: Sorry for short post, just too tired for more...)

The two greens that were already hatched were fanning their wings. No one was tempting them. Someone had better before these little darlings betweened to find themselves food outside the weyr and return to the wild.
Another of the silvers, the smallest of the lot, crumbled to reveil a rainbow colored flitt. He had every color imaginable zig-zagged across his hide. However, his little talons were solid black. It was yet to be seen if this would be held to the color. For his membranes the vibrant colors that make up his hide, are dulled because the membranes are nearly transparent. He let out a squall of sorts, and moved, to get away from his green sisters, and tripped over the fragments of his own egg, accidentally crashing into the largest of the silver eggs. He ended up tumbling from where the eggs sat, towards Crys. Chrissa caught his eye, he quickly got up, and cheeped to her, politely asking permission before heading towards Crys. He was a king, and quite nearly the size of a bronze. He'd listen to Chrissa.
From the largest egg, a miniature Azarith emerged. She flared her wings, fanning them to dry them. Before taking to the skies, the first from the clutch to do so. She dove to the first person that she saw had food, Roasha. She didn't ask the girl for the food, she demanded it.
Finally making up their minds, both greens went directly to Kett. They didn't wait on her, but rather both took a chunk of meat out of her hand before devouring it. The dark green and light greens' personalities were likely to be opposite of one another.
After a breif pause, a silver hatchling came from the last silver egg. With a slightly akward dash, he bolted to Brishen. He curled himself around the boy's leg and hissed at anyone, daring them to try anything. Then he turned his attention to the boy and creeled for food. He was hungry.
The rest of the hatching seemed to hatch in a flurry of activity. Two blues seemed to hatch at once. Followed by a brown, scarlet, two more greens, another blue, another brown and one final blue to finish the clutch. The oldest brown and one of the first blues went to Andol, creeling for food. The brown was a deep, rich, dark soil brown. His companion a deep rich blue that one would find themselves staring into because it was such a beautiful blue.
The scarlet, other brown and the largest of all four blues went after R'keh. The brown, being of higher rank, bullied his way to being the one to get the first peice of meat. The blue managing to get last in the pecking order.
On of the greens, evergreen in color, clawed her way up D'nor's pant leg, creeling at him in hunger. It caused Jasmyn to laugh. "Looks like someone wants you as her handler."She said quietly to him.
The two remaining blues went to Scaeva, demanding to be fed. At the moment, uncaring of her older firelizards. The two were the exact same coloration, except one had lighter talons than his body whereas the other had darker than his body.
The final remaining green wandered over to Zirmal. She was green-green with a sort of light green swirl pattern on her hide. Zirmal was more than happy to feed her. He was glad he had one of his own now.
ooc|| Sorry about this guys, I needed to make sure I got it done before I leave on my vacation. I hope I didn't miss anyone's character, not that many showed up.

Roasha had been watching the greens, trying to tempt them.
Then all of her attention was distracted from them by a firelizard who. looked. just. like. Azarith. Just like the oddly opalescent queen, gold and pearl across her hide. "Ooh!" she produced, involuntarily.
Apparently, from now on, some queens would be this color, a small part of her managed before the pearl firelizard pounced on her food. She was taking no arguments. "Oh wow."
A queen firelizard wasn't supposed to be Impressed to a drudge, but there she was, wings still wet, the iridescence increasing as they dried.
She found more food quickly. "What do I call you, beautiful one?" Then she smiled. "You're a rare Treasure." Because pearl and gold, valuable indeed, and this little one...
She looked like she was about to pass out.
OOC: Thank you! She's awesome!
