Iron chirped at Arilan and flew back over to Andol and landed on his shoulders. Andol then relexed a little bit and said to Arilan and said " Thanks. Why would you want to pull a prank on me anyway?"

Arilan sighed. "It's a game. You're supposed to get the other person back...it's like...a contest, I suppose."

Andol held on to Iron and looked at Arilan and said " If it is supposed to be a game or a contest then should not both people actully want to play before you began."

Of course, Andol could say that and still get him...but he didn't think so.

Andol looked at Arilan and said " Your not a idiot my friend. You just made a mistake. It's just I have been bullied so much before I came here that I really don't like pranks."

Arilan studied him. "If anyone bullies you, I'll throw him in the lake."
He meant it. Prankster, he might be, but he would never do anything to hurt anyone...and besides, he genuinely liked Andol. "I've done similar before...I won't tolerate it."
He was, perhaps, being a bit too protective, but...

This made Andol happy inside and he said " Thanks Arilan. No one has really been that nice to me before. Most people will ethier bully you or let others bully you. You are the first person who has said to me that they would not let people bully me."

Arilan considered. "Maybe it has something to do with wanting to be a dragonrider. We're supposed to be all about protecting people, right?"
Of course, he suspected that didn't always hold true. It was what it was all about for him, but he wondered if some of the others were all about the status. Or what the very shy, pretty girl wanted...maybe she was one of those 'partner for life' types.

Andol shrugged and said " Yeah I guess so that would be good reason, but I don't think that I would be very good at protecting anyone. I presonally just wanted someone to protect me you know." He clucthed Iron closely as he said this.

Arilan hrmed. "Maybe your dragon will teach you how, then. I hear they're good at helping and encouraging their riders."
And Iron certainly seemed to want to encourage his human. Firelizards might be dumb compared with dragons, but they certainly had some things in common.

Andol hoped that would be ture he said " Yeah that would work, but that is if I impress in the frist place which I don't really see happening. I never consdiered myslef worthy of a dragon anyway."
Andol then looked at Iron thinking that probley the only things in his life that would ever encourge him would be Iron and any other firelizards he got.

Arilan hrmed. "Hey, I didn't even consider it until I got Searched. Now, I've decided that I need to trust the dragons."
He smiled a bit. "You trust Iron, right?" he added, a thoughtful note in his voice.
He was pretty sure Iron was the only being Andol fully trusted right now.

Andol just sighed and said " Yes I guess you are right. Yet I wonder if maybe this time that they made a mistake." When Arilan asked him if he trust Iron he looked at the firelizard who chirped back at him and he said to Arilan " Of crouse I trust Iron. He is the only thing in my life that has stayed true to me."

Arilan considered. "Meh. You shouldn't start thinking -that-. I mean, if you'd stood for like four Hatchings and got nothing, maybe."
He had absolute confidence that he would Impress. Just...maybe not on his first attempt. "And if you do fail the first time, maybe it means you're meant for a better dragon."

Andol sighed and said " I guess your right, but when you have had as many dissipontments in your life as I have had you just sort of start to lose hope." He thought about the second thing that Arilan said and repiled " I guess your right maybe I should look at it that way. I do want the dragon that will take care of me the best."
